Hi All,
Just a reminder that The Teacher Earth Science Education Programme, TESEP, has two professional development workshops coming up in December.
TESEP is a PDi Registered Provider
Bookings close one week prior to each event – there are still some places available. Subsidies are available for travelling expenses (and accommodation where necessary).
The cost for each PD is a modest $35 booking fee.
These PDs will be held at the specialist science centres, Ecolinc (www.ecolinc.vic.edu.au/) and VSSEC (www.vssec.vic.edu.au/), and will include a tour of the facilities.
PD 5 Wet Rocks.
Date: Monday Dec 5th, 10am to 4pm
Venue: Ecolinc, Bacchus Marsh.
Presented by Chris McAuley (Chris is the DSE’s principal groundwater specialist)
PD5 examines the importance of groundwater in the hydrological cycle and its role in everything from dry land salinity to sustainable farming.
The workshop was developed by the Victorian Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), with support from DSE. Participants receive a teacher resource package which provides written and electronic documentation of groundwater basics, classroom exercises, experiments, references and case studies.
(Subsidies for replacement teaching costs for PD 5 may be available. Please make a note on your booking form if you wish to take up this offer, or contact Jill Reade at <fm@tesep.org.au>).
PD 7 Our Place in Space
Date: Friday Dec 9th, 9am to 4pm
Venue: The Victorian Space Science Education Centre, VSSEC, Strathmore.
Presented by Churchill Fellowship recipient Nicci Hilton, and Danielle Shean, Lead Educator at VSSEC.
The ‘Our Place in Space’ workshop provides an opportunity to:
discuss common conceptions/misconceptions about the movement of the Earth in space; investigate concepts related to our Earth in the solar system and try engaging hands-on activities for use in the classroom.
Australian curriculum links and teaching resources provided.
Flyers and booking forms are attached, or can be downloaded from the TESEP website’s interactive calendar.
You are welcome to forward this message to anyone who may be interested.
